I used to maintain this site for my church. It was on shared hosting, but I manually installed WordPress.
I was responsible for security updates and I made most content updates, but the power of WordPress is that people that are not web developers can still contribute content.
It ran a theme that I developed from scratch, with collaborative input from members.
